Measurements [metric]
- 2 Tb sweet butter
- 1 3/4 c sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3 Tb cocoa
- 1/2 c milk
- 3 c rolled oats
In a medium saucepan, combine butter, sugar, vanilla, cocoa and milk. Bring to a boil over medium or medium-high heat, and allow to cook for 30 to 60 seconds. Remove from heat, and stir in oats until completely coated with chocolate mixture.
Working quickly, drop the oats by teaspoonsful onto a baking sheet lined with wax paper or parchment paper. Allow to cool and enjoy!
Renate proclaimed this the BEST recipe, because it is simple and delicious. The entire Buchmann family loves them, and Tobi usually starts eating before they've completely cooled.
The first time I made these I mis-translated "Haferflocken." It was not good, but we tried them anyhow.
