Ingredients [metric]
- 4 cup flour
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup lard (we use crisco)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 3 whole eggs
- 3 egg yolks
- Either:
- chopped walnuts
- grated coconut
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Sift dry ingredients together, cut crisco into flour mixture (mixture should be crumbly). Make a well in the flour mixture and add the eggs, vanilla and milk. Mix by hand mixture will be sticky, put a little flour in your hands and roll into balls or open figure eight twists. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Frost with a simple white frosting (color for the holidays) while frosting is wet dip cookin in chopped walnuts or coconut.
Recipe yeilds about 3 dozen cookies depending on how big you roll the ball or make the twist.
