Measurements [American]

  • 290 g flour
  • 100 g sugar
  • 100 g shortening
  • 120 mL light molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 80 mL cold water

Preheat oven to 200 degrees C. Grease cookie sheet. In large bowl, with mixer at medium speed, beat all ingredients until well mixed. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls, at least 5 cm apart, onto cookie sheets. If desired, place 4 or 5 raisins on top of each cookie. Bake 8-10 minutes, or until top springs back when lightly pressed with finger.
