Mark Burgess: Where Teddy Bears Come From

No, no, no!" cried the little wolf. "I'm not the big bad wolf."

Poor little wolf, he just wants to know Where Teddy Bears Come From, but is constantly mistaken for the big, bad wolf.

[Lebkuchen hearts at Philadelphia's Christmas Village, 2009]Little wolf can't sleep at night, and thinks a teddy will help him get some rest. Little Wolf's mother doesn't know where teddy bears come from (probably due to not getting any sleep either), and lets him wander off into the forest to ask the other inhabitants if they know of the origins of teddy bears (again, this lack of judgement is probably caused by sleep deprivation).

On the way, he meets three not-so-little pigs, a girl wearing red and her grandmother, and an old man with a white beard and a flat tire. All mistake him for the big, bad wolf. The pigs, and the girl and her grandmother all tell him to be on his way. The old man was rather hoping for someone who could huff and puff his tire back into shape.

After performing his good deed, little wolf doe indeed learn where teddy bears come from, and has no trouble sleeping after that.

As a mother, I want to know what was in that teddy bear!
